Hi, I've been trying to figure out why one of my front speakers has distorted bass and after replacing the speaker then the amp, with only some improvement, I'm thinking it could be the head unit or wiring. I don't have too much experience with car audio, so I'm not sure if the head unit can cause one speaker to distort. I was running Kicker KS60 both front and back with the front speakers going through a Bazooka BA460 and the back speakers running off the head unit. I'm also running a BW1214 Sub on Channel B Bridge. I replace my front speakers with Alpine SPR-17C (2 way 300W peak/100W RMS) and replaced the BA460 Amp with Pioneer GM-6300F (120Wx4). My Head unit is a Sony CDX-GT510. I'm sure I have the Filter and gain settings where they should be and I'm hearing some improvement; however, in some music I'm detecting distortion in the same front speaker. What other options do I have? Could it be the wiring or the head unit? Thanks, Paul
where are the crossovers set at??? what slope??? any bass boost or eq on??? where is your gain set at??? how did you set your gain???
keep in mind it may be vibrations or air leaking around the speaker itself. make sure the speaker bracket is completely flush with the metal or plastic of the door.
