My friend was looking for car alarms, he said he looked at some, and they were out of his price range. He has a Pontiac Grand Am. I know he wants good, and cheap. Maybe a price range under $150.00. "FROM A GOOD TRUSTED SITE" he says. He is afraid of getting credit card numbers stolen.

    check out Overstock.com

i picked up a 2-way car alarm from there for about $120...i cant really remember exactly. but they had a pretty decent selection of alarms for 100-200 bucks. of couse, since its all overstocked items, you have to buy quick because they usually sell stuff fast. and you never know if they will ever get the same thing again. also, you might get something that looks different from what the pics shows. it will be the same thing, but it might be a different color or something petty like that.

the one i got is similar to this one....actually i think it might be the same one. mine has 2 remotes. the remotes are 2-way, so it will make noise when the alarm gets set off, and show you what part of the car triggered the alarm. thats great for piece-of-mind. i dont see the point of an alarm if it can get set off in the parking lot, and you dont know it until you get outside and hear it. at least with the 2-way remotes, you know if its your car's alarm you hear in the distance. the one i bought also came with a remote starter and power locks/windows/trunck capabilities. for $120, you cant beat it.:)

EDIT: overstock was real professional about it too. i ordered it online, and it was shipped out and delivered on time.
EDIT EDIT: if he is planning on doing the install himself (which i wouldnt recommend unless he knows the car real well), check out bulldog security's web site. i found useful write-ups and diagrams on the easiest way to find/get to the needed wires.

That bulldog site has some great info it looks like!

I was always a fan of Autopage security systems..as for a place to purchase an alarm, perhaps your buddy should look locally at a dealer...I cant blame him one bit for not wanting to give out finacial info over the net.

I completely forgot about this thread, he did finally get him an alarm, but he said alot of the alarms he looked out were around 400 dollars, those were just the "average car alarms" I don't know if they were trying to rip him off or if it's true.

I should be getting my new car tomorrow also, I do want a car alarm. The problem with me getting a car alarm is that I need to buy an alarm off of a site that will accept money orders. I will try and check around also, but if any one knows what is good, what kind of brand or anything.
I have found one site that has car alarms and accepts money orders and that is right here
WoofersEtc.com - The Online Car Audio Super Store, The largest selection at the lowest prices! Image Dynamics Authorized Internet Dealer!, Ground Shaker, roof mount monitors, car monitor, car video, flip down monitor, mtx jackhammer, Eclipse, Eclipse

and I wnat to try an spend under or close to 150 - 200, and I'm not going to install it myself. maybe if they have an auto starter

Also with good range distance because I will still be at school, needs to be maybe range to be around 3 blocks distance, one with the screen that will show like what happend to the car or what part of the car got hit or triggered. One that will see if the window got busted, someone scratched, whatever.
