ok, heres the deal....i have built quite a few boxes (11-12) but i always built simple boxes that are built to recommended manufacturer specs (current box 2.75 cu ft)

i would like to build something crazy like you guys are always showing, something that will really squeeze every last bit of spl out of my 15"s

and i know with my limited space, chances of being able to utilize both subs is kinda slim to none, because alot of the boxes you guys build are friggin HUGE

here are all the parameters on the subs that are i can squeeze up:
(taken word for word out of the owners manual)

    Powerbass
    PB-B156Dv.2
    4 Ohm dvc 15"

    Fs- 24hz
    Qms- 6.4
    Qes- .78
    Qts- .70
    Vas(liters)- 227.5
    nominal impedance- 4ohm+4ohm
    SPL 1w/1m (db)- 91.3
    SPL (2.83v/1m)- 97.1
    X-max (mm) one wa- 7
    pe-rms - 300w
    Pe-max- 600w
    Frequency responce 20hz-1khz
    Cutout diameter- 13.9in
    Mounting depth- 6.42in

keep in mind that the enclosure has to fit in my trunk, i can get mesurements tomorrow if need be, but only using one sub is fine

im not looking to compete (obviously) just looking to make people beside me rattle even more they already do to an extent, but i want more

Measurements might be nice, if your current box has 2.75 cu ft then your good for one 15. But your chioce of sub may not be good. I like PowerBass, but he dual Voice coil thing might be a problem. A dual 4 ohm speaker will get you 2 ohm or 8 ohm.

The 2 ohm configuration is OK ONLY if you amp ia a class D, class A B amps dont like 2 ohm loads in mono

Now for your truck, tune the port a little higher, this will take advantage of your shorter distances in the cab. Tune around 42 to 45 Hz.

For your 2.75 cu ft box, using two 4-inch ports, they will need to be about 9-inches long.

GohillaAudio sorry for the tread jacking.... Ranger, Azn is really tied up with the designs he has to do now. Could you help me design a box for my wife's CRV? I'm only going to use a 10" and since i want it to fit flush in the floor i have to go sealed. I know the minimum required is 1.0 cu ft. could you help me out if i got you the measurements? I went to a car audio place the other day and they want way too much money to make a simple 1 cu ft box. I'd rather do it myself anyway.

I charge way to much to build boxes too, but advice is always free. Can you post a pic of the area you will be working in and those masurements? Lets see what we can do.

I would love to do a ported box, but i don't think i have enough room to work with on this one.

Thanks ranger, I'll take a picture when i get home tonight and i'll take the measurements. I just have no idea at all on how to design a box.

actually its 2.75 per chamber, and its for a trunk, not a truck, i have both the subs wired in i have both voice coils on both subs ran in parallel, then i have the subs running in series to create a 4 ohm load, i wish i could afford a nice 1 ohm stable amp, but i have an 7 month old son.....and and some things are just more important than a loud system. SOOOO im gonna try to work with what i have

could someone explain port tuning to me? i know what it means, i just dont have a clue how its calculated, i will try to get Trunk measurements today before i go to work, thanks guys!

download winisd pro, there is plenty of documentation to get you started and its about the simplest box design software. there is also bassbox but that is a much harder to use and much more thorough program. AZN and i have been using winisd pro and its given us great results. I've built quite a few boxes following a design from it and they're all the loudest systems in the area haha.

I got my max measurements for the CRV and i have a very small area to work with, VERY SMALL. I came up with the external measurements of 19"x17"x8" so the internal is 17.5"x15.5"x6.5" = 1,763.13 cu. in. / 1728 = 1.02 cu ft.

I'm just a little worried, this is a very small box and the my depth is only 6.5 internal and the mounting depth of the sub is 4-13/16. is that enough room? How do you think this will sound? I decided against the crossfire sub and i'll just go with a kicker comp 10". It's just for my wife and she doesn't like a lot of bass so i'm thinking that will be ok for her with the MTX amp.

hey ccullin i used to have a kicker comp 10 in my spare tire.

i had it sandwitched with 2 round cutouts and 12 in bolts with wing nuts.

it was very stealth and it pounded like a mother.it must have been less than 3/4 cu ft easy.

so yours should do something in 1 cu ft

Really? that is very stealthy... did you take any pics of it? How did you get that idea? On the kicker site they said that the minimum required for the kicker comp is 1 cu. ft. so im hoping that it will sound ok. the space looked big to me until i measured it. I was hoping to get 1.5 cu ft. but i couldn't get it to work. Even the kicker comps are way overpriced here. a 10" is about $100.

Try one of the Pioneer thin mount woofers. The Pioneer Premier TS-SW1241D is a really good sounding woofer in small spaces. Also it can be ported, even in an enclosure as small as 1 Cu Ft

Did you download WinISD yet? Did you post the dimensions that you have to work with?

I haven't seen anybody selling pioneer subs in the philippines. I was able to find a JBL GTO, its not a shallow mount sub but it only needs .75 cu ft for a sealed box. are JBL's any good?

    jbl makes a good product.
