    need a cubes and hz recomendations for a new box for my 12" alpine type r. 500 rms going to it, but might be 1kw if i can get a 2 ohm of my sub, but i will be double baffling it regardless. i want to use a pvc pipe port max height is 14.5 inches and width about 35 depth shouldnt be a issue

    The Type R likes a little bit of air space ( did'nt AZN say that awhile back?). Typically I would wanna see a 2.25 to 2.5 cu ft box. A 4-inch port around 7 to 8 inches long should get you where you need to be

    That depends on the car its in. But typically between 36 to 38 Hz is good. The box in my car is tuned around 40 Hz, the box in my sons car is around 42-44 Hz (his car is really loud).

    My recommended port length is for 38 Hz.

    im deciding to go with a slot port again. too much work for a tube port, well for me anyway.
    im using the re calc and i got a design i think. there are my numbers in the fill in fields (dont have paint) so just typed in
    width=30
    height=15
    depth=15
    square port width=3
    square port length 2=15
    i get a net of 2.25 - .071 = 2.179
    and 36.26hz that goood?

    That box is about the right size. But we need to reajust the port for your tuning. So lets stay with the width, height and depth that you have. So 30 X 15 X 15 are good numbers. Now these are OUTSIDE dimensions.

    Now for the port, 13.5-inches tall, by 2.25-inches wide. This port will need to be 20-inches long.

    Please refer to the Box Building thread for a building technique, it will help.

    thx ranger i got 20inches of port with the 2nd port length being 4 inches and 2.57 after driver disp. and 35.4hz tuning.
    but before i go ahead and build i got another box design made for me
    could you check this for me?

    the bottom and top 30x13
    Front baffle and back 30x13.5
    sides 11.5dx13.5 tall

    port lengths will be 18.67 inches and will come out to 2.386 ft^3
    port diameter is 4"

    OK, I get a total volume of 2.56 cu ft. The ports take up around .37 cu ft so we have 2.19 cu ft remaining. With your port length (18.67, just round off to 19) you will have a tuning of around 36 to 37 HZ.
