I have a 94 chevy caprice and my antenna is not working right. the motor makes noise like it's working but my antenna won't move. I'm thinking that it is time for a new one but i'm wondering if i can fix it without getting a new one all together
Some of those older power antenas from GM can actually be rebuilt. Check with your GM dealer on parts availibility. It is usually the long plastic flexible "rack" gear...as in rack and pinion.........
Viking is right, its easy to fix. Dont forget to take the power antenna apart and remove all the old plastic mast parts. I've found its easier to put everything together, the put the new mast in, have a friend turn the radio on, the antenna will run for a minute. After its done put inthe new mast and have your friend shut off the radio. It should pull the mast in. Put the locking nut on and cycle the antenna one more time, and your done.
