Clipping occurs when the unit you are using is over driven. Cause a distorted signal. This is when the signal is in a completly symetrical wave with no flat spots in it. When cliping it cause this wave to do several differnt things. Sometimes make hills and vallys in the wrong places at the wrong time making the actual sound become unatural. If any unit in your system clips then it will cause a problem down the line. Clipping can occure becasue of you HU , Pre amp, or woofer is being over drivien or is starved of power.
