One of my friends got a new system installed and b/c Memphis pays for windows etc if your subs shatter them the installer asked him if he could put a choke on the amp. I have never heard that but how does it work and how can it be "unchoked"?

    thank you

A choke generally refers to a cross over. I would assume he wants to add a high pass filter. Somewhere between 15 and 30 Hz. Besides your windows it might keep from loosening some body panels but probably not. Just gets rid of dangerous frequencies which don't really contribute to the musical content. If it's not done with an electronic crossover it's done with passives on the RCA into the amp.
