first things first...after i get my alt...im gonna need a new box...not only because my audiobahns are in a prefab(1.1 ft3)...and not just because...the subs are blowing the speaker terminals off the box...but also...i want something different...something to sound better...my install is pretty messy right now in the spring me and my stepdad are going to redo it...so ive been thinking about a few things... (my main thing here is to save space while having the subs still slam) idea: box wrapping around the back of the trunk like a 'u' q: how would you measure the volume???(im a math idiot) q: would u fire the subs into the cabin or into the box? q: whats would the difference be between the two q: if i was to fire them into the box...how would i wire the subs without it looking shitty? secondly....my audiobahn amp has two fans in it....couldnt i mount that up on its side...and it wont get to hot...considering the fan??? thankx for the help
1....why a u? a. will the u stay at a constant width? at least through the arch? or will it be more of |_| << that shape? fire subs against the back of the trunk/hatch/etc....is what i'd do...
its probably gonnabe a box'd 'u' (meaning it wouldnt be rounded and if im firing into the box...how would i wire the subs??? without it looking like shit...have any pics??
Q1: Separate the box into 3 different boxes. Calculate the area of each, and then add em up. Don't do this literally, just calculate it as 3 diff. boxes. (LxWxH)/1728 Q2: Doesn't matter really. They're both firing out. From my experience there's no difference in SQ or SPL. You can play with the phasing a bit though if you invert them. Whichever you think looks best is what i'd do . Q3: Explained above. Q4: Alot of people get some colored speaker wire to match the sub, or something else. You can wrap the wiring around the basket and then conceal it once you run it to the amp.
