AIWA Getting New Lease on Life

May 12, 2003 -- On December 1, 2002, Sony Corporation acquired Aiwa Company Ltd. The Aiwa brand will now be re-launched and re-focused in the United States under a newly formed marketing organization named Aiwa Strategic Accounts Partnership Inc. (ASAP). The new organization's mission is to rebuild the Aiwa brand to exist independently as a vital brand positioned side-by- side with other Sony brands. The new Aiwa brand will encompass network, digital and visual products, MP3 players, as well as home and car audio products.
To bring this revitalized brand to consumers, ASAP will be unveiling several new product lines that are strengthened by network connectivity, high quality and good value. Geared toward Gen Y and Gen X consumers, the new product lines will be supported by a global marketing campaign, including a new Aiwa logo, reflecting the innovation and quality of the brand, a new tag line - "enjoy AIWA" - and a revitalized Web site (www.us.aiwa.com).
