I am going to build a box for 2 12w7 subwoofers. I was on www.the12volt.com and came out with 32x14x14 for 2.75 Cubic Feet. I was told by many people i should have an internal wall inside to separate the 2 subwoofers. How would i add/subtract this extra volume? I was also told that some calculators dont account for the volume of the subwoofer itself. How would i add/subtract the volume of each subwoofer? If anybody can help me with plans for this it will be greatly appreciated. So i can know the dimensions of each piece will be before i cut. Thank you!
An internal baffle, or wall between the subs is technically only required if the 2 subs are wired up in stereo fashion. If the subs are both recieving a Mono signal from the amp, then an internal baffle will not be required. BUT...the effects of the internal baffle, even with subs in mono, will result in a more solid enclosure. Thereby reducing cabinet resonance. And if the box is vibrating...your losing sound So it would be a good idea..... Now, as for the reduction of volume, if this is a sealed box, and its.75 inch material used in the construction...simply take .75 x 12.5 x 12.5 and you have the volume of the baffle. as for the woofers do a search for them...the manufacturer should indicate the speaker volume.
Oh and a cut list....using .75 stock 2@32x14 baffle and back 2@32x12.5 top and bottom 3@12.5x12.5 sides and internal baffle
