Ive been doing alot of research on this, and read mainly that sealed boxes have better sound quality, and ported are louder?... Well Ive also read that certian subs sound better in certian boxes. I have 2 12" type E's, and im in the process of ordering a box, but cant decide what one to go with, ported or sealed.. anyone with experience with these subs?, any suggestions? thanks guys.
Ordering a box? G3, a member on this forum, did a buird with type-e's and he said they shined in big ported box. I'm telling you that you should make your own box. It is alot cheaper, and it will sound soooo much nicer. Someone on this forum will help you design one.
nevermind, those were type-r's that G3 built for. But, the same concept will go for the type's's im sure.
now that you bring it up, i dont know. I will borrow a camera from somone when i can though cause my camera sucks. its not that loud but for 360 watts its pretty good.
Lets do a ported box, most people prefer the sound from a ported enclosure. Now, most prefabs are usually not tuned right for the speaker your using. Performance will suffer.
Type Es have a pretty high qts...lends them more to sealed...but in ported they are peaky but sound good in big vented enclosures.
no i havent done a box for type-rs yet but very soon i will after we play with them on a nine.1 in that 5.3cuft box @31hz. I did 4.3cuft@40hz for the alpine type-es and they blew my mind off ~350rms. My friend originally had them in a smallish sealed box and they sounded like poop and were wangless. no offense azn. What vehicle do you have?
