    American Bass Vehicle Breaks World Record

    June 30, 2003 -- American Bass, manufacturer of car audio equipment, was the equipment of choice for Superior Sound, a company-sponsored team that broke the SPL world record at the sanctioned Equalizer dB Drag event "SPL Max," held June 8, 2003.
    The American Bass sponsored team of Superior Sound, from Erie, Pennsylvania, won the competition using one American Bass 18-inch VFL quad coil woofer and reached the highest one-speaker score (170.5 db) in dB Drag history.

    In New Castle, Penn., Superior Sound was at it again, topping its previous score with a 171.5, breaking the world record for a one-woofer.

    "We are very proud of the American Bass product line as evident from our world record breaking performance in the sound competition arena," said Bob Ahuja, vice president of American Bass. "We look forward to remaining on top with a continued dedication to advanced technology and state-of- the-art audio precision."

    Other recent notable American Bass readings include:

    • USACI Regional Competition at Tru Audio Concepts and Speed in Brookings, South Dakota where three world records were set - Reid Hammond (146.3), Brian Brekke (147.2) and True Audio Concepts (150.4 set on B&K meter).

    • MECA Show in Nashville, Tennessee when Eric Coulter (151.9 and 152.0) used two 12's and one American Bass CX1500D amplifier in a Ford Explorer with linear X type meter. At the same show, Dominick Iraggi (172.0 and 171.9) used 108 5 1/4th speakers and six American Bass CX1500D amplifiers in a '78 Cadillac. By the way, Iraggi's latter score was the highest certified score on linear X type meter.

    • Mike Stiers used two American Bass VFL 12's (151.5) in Ohio to rank 2nd loudest in USA/CANADA and 4th loudest car in his class in the world.
