Phoenix gold xmax 15 and tantrum 500.2 amp

    Is one phoenix gold tantrum 500.2 amp enough to power 2 15" phoenix gold Xmax subs.??
    The amp will be running off a pioneer premier deh-p940mpwith 6V pre amps
    Please let me know what you think..

    I can't find any specs on the Xmax subs...

    Haha, i checked it right after i posted it. I remembered it being 4V, but you're right, it is 6V.

    The RMS on the 12 and the 15 is 600w, and you'd be giving them a shade less than half of that at 250w. That is if you run a pair. If you're just going to run a single sub, you'd be golden. The sensitivity of those subs is pretty average, 87dB for the 12 and 89dB for the 15, so that's not really a factor... Eh, its hard to say. What kind of sound are you looking for? Good SQ, or something that gets real loud?

    im running a pair, and i want something really loud... i wanna hit 145.db
    would you recommend getting another 500.2?

    I don't have MSN... I would get another 500.2 if i were you though. If you haven't already gotten the 500.2, just go with a 1200.1, it'll probably be cheaper.

    im pretty sure that a retailer at an audio shop told me that the 500.2 pushes 1000watts...
    so did some of my friends.... how can i check this..

    The 500.2 will not do 1kW...more like 550-600. Very nice amplifier, though.

    Yep, it might do 1000w peak power...but that really doesn't mean anything.

    tru....500.2 means 500 watts divided by 2 channels....not 500 watts X 2 channels
