Your going to get a couple of different opinions with a question like that, so here is my opinion. I really like full range speakers, they are efficient and work well with deck power. But I always do one more thing. I add an add-on tweeter. Why? most front speakers are mounted in a less tha optimum location. Care full positioning of a tweeter can really bring the sound up. I've done this in my truck, my wifes car and my sons car. It really works.

The component speaker comes with a midbass driver, crossover and tweeter. Typically to work well, they need more power than an HU can supply.

    Anyway thats my 10-cents

i dont know if u guys have looked at any of the american bass stuff but all their full range speakers have adjustable tweeters on them... so it helps out with what ranger is talking about.. u can aim the tweets towards u to enhance the sound :) and they are reasonable priced and have carbon fiber cones and rubber surrounds.. american bass has really emerged as one of the top brands in car audio..
