I have been a member of CAT for a long time and I enjoy comming here. Before CAT, I was a member of two other car audio sites, where rude and condescending behavior was tolerated. It will not be tolerated here.

The problem is simple. Installers are a unique breed. Generally, they are intelligent, they can solve most problems presented to them. They are proficient at woodworking, they have a good understanding of electricity, they can fabricate just about anything. The problem, many become arrogant and egotistical. Being rude becomes normal.

Many of these other sites have installers as Moderators and administrators. And thats the problem.

I truly believe that there is no dumb question. I hold true to that philosophy here and in my classroom. I want everyone to feel comfortable here. I don't believe that I have been rude to anyone. I always try to treat others the way I wanna be treated.

I expect everyone here to treat others with respect

:DBy the way, if anyone sees a post where I was rude to someone please PM me a link so that I can delete that post:D

Even when I was an installer, I always treated everyone the way I wanted to be treated.

The owner of the shop I worked at was seriously skeptical when he saw a customer in the wood shop building his own box. He ask me about it and I assured him it was OK. That customer bought four woofers from us and recommended us to all his friends. Word of mouth is the best advertisement.

I had customers buy things from us and install it themselves in our parking lot. They would come in and ask advice. We had no problem doing that. More than once, I went out, drilled a hole so they could run their power wire through the firewall. Even during this economy the shop is doing well. I never developed the "Installer" mentality. If I had, I could not be effective as a High School math teacher.

I miss being an installer, but I like summers off

I learned some time ago...the older i get, the more dumb i realize i am...

Proper etiquette is one small part of the equation which allows us to convey information in a manner that is educational and informative, and even entertaining!

We all have our bad days, even in the way we post...but some folks have bad days in the way they post everyday.... and it just cant exist here.

this in one of three car audio sites i belong to. this one being the first i signed up to when i finally got a computer.

this is the only site that has zero drama, and i like that about the members here.

I belong to a few forums on the net, too. I like this one because the regulars here are very knowledgeable. From time to time, I will sneak into ROE and read but then get discouraged because everyone there flames everyone else. I like CAT the best. I honestly think CAT is the only place where flaming is intolerable, and I love it. Thank you Moderators.

I completely agree with jonnyv713's comment. I first went to the forum at caraudio.com and just about everyone there is a troll. This was within the last 6 months or so, so maybe it's getting better. When I stopped going there, I think they were getting some mods on board. I was happy to find this place where it's not tolerated at all. Keep up the good work. ;)

I was also a member of caraudio.com back in 2005 or 2006 and it wasn't any better back then. I found CAT and I've been here ever since.

Yes I'm reviving an old thread but I want to say thank you for keeping this a no drama site.

I was on Caraudio.com for two weeks until I find this place. I haven't been back there since because of the a-holes.

behavior like that?? um ok... roadmasters from walmart are very good caraudionub.... woudlnt u want someone to tell u that that's not the truth if it was u ranger?? i think so.. and thats what im doing... why not just say forget a cd player and use a line converter?? i hate this about car audio websites.. i do the best i can to help people.. and its my opinoin that those will not sound like what he wants... he said he liked his friends jl's... and u want him to buy a crunch amp and r types... forget it.. buy whatever he tells u man.. u can check any of my threads.. if someone wants something i sell and its cheaper somewhere else i tell them... so idk how i could benefit from knocking one brand or another.. i sell crunch.. would never sell alpine woofers and wouldnt recommend them... i love sony decks... but systems with subwoofers should have a cd player with sub outs.. or its hard to adjust the sound.. then ur stuck with just a bass adjust ment.. which will take away from ur surround speakers bass along with the sub or add to both which sucks.. trying to help him do this once instead of buying everything and then a week later being like this sounds bad i need to upgrade..ha

    And Roadmaster is beyond bad.

Your opinion is definately welcome here, your knowledge of car audio as very good. And I do love a good arguement, but this comment

Looks like a personal attack to me. And I won't tolerate it. You post was fine and very informative. But that last part could have been left off.

Monster71 loves car audio just as much as you and I do. And he has every right to his opinion as you do.

Both TheViking and pedro quiroga and I try to keep CAT as friendly as possible and we will do what ever it takes to keep it that way

Thanks for the bump. Good reminder to me too and one of the reasons CAT is the best.
BTW @187 my hu unit has front and rear/sub outs. Sony Xplod CDX-GT350MP. I will do some homework on the 1500.1 u mentioned. To compare it to the PDX 1000.1. Its a challenge to find am amp that puts out 1000 watts at @ 4 ohms. So far I have seen the PDX, JL 1000.1 and a Sundown amp.

the 1500.1 does only 450@ 4 ohms.. it does 1000@1ohm.. but amp is cheap and does rated and puts out clean power.. and sorry for that comment.. sometimes i get a little worked up :).... i didnt like the salesmen comment cuz i basically became a salesmen of car audio cuz i was sick of paying retail for everything.. and its fun to sell car audio and install it and show it off.. and u will never see me on here trying to take advantage of someone.. ill point them in the cheapest direction even if it means me losing business.. and no one from this site has ordered anything from me anyways.. i come on here more to help the new guys and because everyone is so friendly.. i am on caco too but the mods are not very nice and alot of the people suck there... also dc and sundown and brands like that sponser the forum so its sooo biased.. i dont like it.. u guys all seem like good guys...
