Cleaner signal at higher ohm load?

Here's my situation: I have two Audiopipe 1500d amps running 4 DD 1515s. The subs are dual 4s, wired in parallel to yield a 1 ohm load to each amp (each amp runs one pair of subs). I have set gains the best I can without an O-scope, as I don't have one.

It gets loud, but I feel like the subs can handle a little more power than the APs are giving them. I've heard the arguments about these APs and their supposed "dirty" watts, and it has me worried. I can play all day at a volume that is loud, but the system is capable of being louder. But when I go up those extra couple of notches, the coils get stinky, and I know the amps must be giving a clipped signal to the subs.

I have a 190 amp alternator, 1/0 big 3, one run of 1/0 to two group 78 batteries in the back, then 4 gauge to the amps.

Now, on to my question: If I were to buy two more APs, and run one to each sub (at a 2 ohm load), would the signal be cleaner at full volume? The amps don't make as much power, obviously, at 2 ohms as opposed to 1 ohm, but it would still be more power than I have now, and I think it may be a cleaner signal. Am I correct?

Would I be better off to sell these APs and just go with something more expensive? It's a pretty low budget build as it is, and I'd like to keep it that way. I can buy another pair of APs for around $300. Selling, then RE-buying amps of good quality would almost certainly cost a good deal more money, but I will do it if I have to. Cheaper than 4 re-cones.....

    Any help on this?

here would be my analysis of the situation and the only reason im giving my input is because the known people to give advice on here didn't. If the signal that is being distorted is coming from the subwoofers and not the door speakers as well at high volume then it comes to the Subwoofer not being of a better quality or the amp. I have not looked up any information on either of the components you have listed. Assuming the amp is rated to be stable at a 1 ohm load then "supposedly" that should not be a problem but as you look increase the amplitude more distortion could be possible. Now to the double coils getting hot. Still basing the assumption that your subs are not receiving more rms wattage then can be handled then i would say the issue is yes with your amps. I would think that decreasing the load resistance to each amp would in turn clear your signal overall. But i could be completely wrong
