Hi, Today I bought the TS-875 speakers(Pioneer) to install in the dashboard of my VW Golf 2. Two audiocables are forseen to each hole, where the previous 87mm speakers were installed. The new TS-875 speakers have a 'special' slide connector for the + and masscable for the audiosignal, but i can't determine which pin has what polarity! I've searched the internet all over, and the only thing I found out that these speakers I bought, were for the Fiat Punto dashboard. So I've also searched on that area, but nothing. Can anybody help me on how to retrieve the polarity of these pins? So I can weld the audiocables(which polarity I do know) to these pins Thanks!
I think I've found a solution for my problem: As a last resort, you can perform a Battery Pop Test on the speaker to determine polarity. Hold one of the speaker wires (disconnected from the receiver) to the negative side of a fresh "C" or "D" cell flashlight battery (or any battery lower than a 9-volt) and briefly touch the other speaker wire on the positive side of the battery. This will cause an audible "pop" in the speaker, and cause the speaker cone to move slightly. If the speaker cone moves outward (away from the magnet) then the polarity of the speaker terminals is the same as the polarity of the battery terminals. If the speaker cone pulls down into the basket, the polarity is reversed in reference to the battery.
Actually, I've done that alot. And a 9-volt battery is fine, just don't hold it on the speaker for more than a two or three seconds. Typically on Pioneer speakers, the terminals are two different sizes, the larger is plus and the smaller is minus.
I have kenwoods, and on those speakers you can tell which one is plus (the bigger one) and the mass or negative (the smaller one). But with the pioneers they have the same size
