External Crossovers?

    Hey everybody,

    Quick question about external crossovers. What are they? Are they to take the mid and high range out of a speaker so the speaker can be only low range. Sorry for the stupid question i just don't know much about audio.

    Crossovers are to send the high frequency to the tweeters and the lows to the midbass or woofer. Without them, if the tweeter were to receive bass frequencies they would burn up. There is no such thing as a stupid question by the way.
