This is only my 2nd time building a box. I used a box volume calculator, which is easy. But the sub takes up volume and I dont know how to factor that in. Also, my manual that came with the sub says to factor in the amount of air displaced by the sub too. Im totally confused.

Could someone break it down for me?

    Thanks.

take the volume of your box, subtract the volume of the woofer. there ya go...the woofer manual should have some information about the woofer's displacement

most drivers will take up .1 cu ft or less unless they have a huge 50lb motor or more.

its the difference between net and gross. Net is what the subs will see but gross is taking account port displacement, sub displacement, and other bracing you may use.
