Well i bought a D3 it lasted a week, there was no way to make the double din fit cleanly enough for my tastes into the dash with the curves at the end of the unit.
Then my N1 went in for a week, then i pulled that, i didnt like the flip screen.
So then i though why not install the factory nav unit, well easier said then done, even with all the wiring schematics (i have access to GM ESI Electronic Service Information so note if anyone needs wire pin outs on any GM car from 98-05 let me know). So i took my time and planned it out and i have been the 1st one to successfully integrate a 2002-2005 Cadillac Denso Nav System into a non-nav car.
I personally think it went very well.
    What do you guys think???

I've put a couple of factory navs in the new Chev trucks. But I had a little help, someone else did the research (yes I Cheated). A company called M&R Electronics had already figured everything out. Even how to make the voice prompt work.

Sometimes factory is the only way to go. For me, any install needs to look like it belongs and your install looks like it belongs. So great job. Research will always be the key to a great install. And it looks like you did that too.

    yea
we did factory Delphi units in my bosses Lade and H3, both were essentially plug and play just needed a VSS wire
in this case though the whole pin out was completely different and get this the nav system has no illumination wire PERIOD, somehow it gets a signal over the data class to turn the buttons on and dim the screen, hooking the illum wire up actually kept blowing the whole dash illum fuse lol
either way im VERY happy with it, i got the unit from a wrecked Deville for 280 bucks, spend 60 for the antenna, 20 on plugs and wires, and 60 on a year old nav disc.
way cheaper than a D3 hahaha

btw Ranger if you EVER need a factory GM pin out for anything on any make 98-05 let me know and i can send you pin outs of anything from the Cluster to the Radio, including tech bulletins and pics of procedures.

Wanna activate the Voice Prompt, if the H3 is an 07 or 08 it might be possible.

Is the VCI Module under the radio? It is on the 07 and newer trucks. On the VCI module, pin 9 (gray wire) and Pin 10 (bare wire, be careful there are two bare wires). T-Tap and run a pair of wires to the black plug of the Nav radio pin positions 4 and 5. You may need to add pins in those positions.

VCI pin 9 to Nav pin 4 and VCI pin 10 to Nav pin 5. Voice prompt now works, done it twice, its neat.

    wow
    never knew that!
actual the H3 is an 05 so i guess that wont work huh
    any ideas on the Lade?
    was that a feature?
i had my STSs VCIM reprogrammed when they did the theftlock to have it programmed to realize i have nav, i press the talk button once, i can say a voice command for the nav, i press it twice it asks for an onstar command.
    very cool!
