OK.....Need some opinions..... I am looking to maybe buy a digital camera....I have never owned one.... I am thinking of an advance point and shoot or an SLR..... Would like to stay in the mid $300.00 range (I know...SLR is prolly out of the question) If someone thinks I should seriously consider SLR and forkin out the extra cash, tell me why... Any brands to stay away from? Had a few tell me to steer clear of Kodak...Have been considering a canon advanced point and shoot and was looking at Nikon SLR (bout $500.00 range)... Whadda you all think??? Willy
well SLRs will provide you with high resolution crystal clear images, they're used by tons of photographers for that purpose. so if you like photography a lot and have an appreciation for nice images then go for it. if not stick to your 300$ range they still have some very nice cameras at that price. try to find one thats around 3-4 megapixels. megapixels really don't matter as far as the quality of the image, only the resolution(how big it will be on your computer). so read a lot of reviews and look for a camera that has good image processing and a quality lense.
i just use my cell phone for ALL pics. Nokia N95....5 mega pix....very nice quality pics. it also takes dvd quality video. Before i gotthe phone i used and still have Nikon coolpix. 5.1 megapix and easy to use. But i always have my phone so i use it.
i have a fuji and love it.anS5000. they have soo many options for them.and inexpencive. for options get an extra batt and a simple uv filter to use as a lense protector. FujiFilm FinePix S5700 Digital Camera - 15765942 - RitzCamera.com
also this is just an opinion but look for a camera that has a Lithium Ion battery instead of the standard AA sized batteries. Its a cheaper solution given the fact all you need is a simple quick recharge and u can shoot all day.
i dont agree.what if there is no power source near. having rechargable AA's is way better.just have enough. mine runs on 4 AA's,and lasts at least 4hr's.turning it on when needed/w flash.so i carry a few spares. i also have a 7.2v Lith ion external batt that lasts me the whole day.both with 12v car chargers. sometimes i go on long caming trips and take hundreds of pics. also adventure parks with no chance of a recharge. so a readlly available batt would be the better choice. my friend has a sony with a sony only lith ion and he's lucky to get a 100 shots before his dies(he dosent use the veiw finder.only the lcd screen).so i take pics for him too.
also regargable AA's are cheaper than an extra lith ion. it just makes more sense to me,but i'm the type of person that expects the worse so i'm prepared for it.lol. i'm wierd that way.
Well I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a Nikon SLR....I read a bunch of reviews and talked to a few people about it....It is a little more than I wanted to spend, but I shopped around and got a great package.... Every time I have ever thought about buying a digital camera, I leaned towards an SLR...... I got a camera... Nikon D40 and several options....18-55 mm lens, UV filter, 4gig memory card, USB memory card reader, tripod, leather case, Flip up shade for the LCD screen, and a lense cleaning kit.....All brand new and shipped to me for $525.00 Willy
Thats an awesome deal, im sure you'll like it. Show us some test images. Also try to take some macro shots as well.
thats a sweet camera. this would be a nice addintion if it didnt cost soo much DigiPower Power Grip for Nikon D40 - PGR-ND40 - RitzCamera.com
As soon as I get it, I am gonna be snappin pics left and right...... I am pretty excited.....I have always wanted a nice camera and to take pictures of cool stuff....Not gonna be turnin pro or nothin......Maybe just a cool little additional hobby...My youngest son (15) plays alot of sports, so I definitely am gonna use it..... Willy
Pedro....I am not sure about the continuous mode.....I need to go pick up a book called "cameras for dummies" or "photography for dummies".... I don't know nothin about cameras but I wanna learn....From what I understand, this camera, being entry level SLR, has auto modes for everything. Then as you learn more and more about the camera, the adjustments, etc....You can take control of more and more to fine tune it...I guess some of the very expensive cameras are completely manual and you have to know what you are doing..... I am looking forward to diggin in to it.... Willy
Ok.....I am gonna try this... Got camera and I took a couple shots to test it....This is fully automatic settings with standard lense....(I did not realize that there is and actual setting mode for close-ups...I did not use that).....I just wanted to see if I could take the picture get it into the computer and be able to send it....So here goes....I hope it comes out... Willy Well....it did not work....I gotta resize it....too big....Don't know how to do that yet...
