now if the box volume is too be 103.4 L would i divide that by 3 ta get the length height width of a cube box and if so since that comes out ta be 34.4666666666666666666667 would i round that up too 34.5 and that would be inches on the lenghts ????????
First lets convert that to english so that we can understand it. So what you need is a box that is 3.65 cu. ft. Now we can that the cube root (NOT divide by 3, we are in a 3-dimensional space) but I measure in inches. So one more conversion. Because there are 1728 cubic inches in a cubic foot we multiply and get 3.65 * 1728 = 6307.2, now I don't care about the 7 or the .2, 6300 is close enough Now we take the cube root of 6300 and get 18.469, so if we round off to 18.5 inches for all the sides we will be close enough to the 103.4 L that you need. Almost forgot those are inside dimensions if you are using 3/4- inch MDF the outside dimensions will be 20 x 20 x 20. Sorry about the math leason, but you ask for it
nah i really appreciate it if using a calculator how do u find the cube root i know i prob sound like a dumbass here but for real i dont give a dam i just wanna know thanks for the info and how did u figure that it was 3.65 cu.ft cause thats exactly right
one more thing yall dont have ta try ta make me look like a dumbass just cause i dont know if i knew i wouldn be askin
I am NOT trying to make anyone look like a dumbass. You simply ask a question and I posted an answer. As far as AZN, its his job to correct my spelling and grammer. Different calculators do cube root differently, cube root is the same as raising a number to (1/3) power. This will get you the answer you need. As far as conversions, my calculator has built in conversion tables. MDF is medium Density Fiberboard, available at any Home Depot
No one was trying to belittle you. You asked a question, and a very nicely detailed answer was given. If you have issues with that, perhaps another site more to your taste would suit you. We are on here to help folks out, not insult or call anyone a dumbass (well, other than caddy and azn ) We dont get paid for this, we dont get free blowjobs from the local town pump, and we sure as hell dont get any free car audio equipment!!!! Thank you for your understanding.
Basically take the internal dimension (width X height X depth) and divide by 1728(one cubic foot) and you have the internal space. A 4x8 board of MDF at Lowes is $21.99 More than enough for a normal sized box
nah yall got me wrong when i said the whole dumbass thing i honestly do appreciate the help yall give me for real i was just a lil stale cause on a diff audioforum pp started ta **** talk over the question and ****ed me off and i was saying that so yall wouldnt i have posted a few questions on here and got good answers no bull **** except on one but i cant blame yall for your thoughts on that lol ty all
so basically like square root but cubed lol i knew that i just dint understand the way u said it thats before algebra in school **** lol thank u for yo help on this
i am planning on making a box ta hold two 12" jl's older like the ones caddy was or is still selling two pioneer 12's two 12"power acoustics cheap ass **** or something like that two 10"pioneers two cheapo lighting audio from walmart 6X9's right now i only have the 2 jls hooked up wit the 2 pioneer 10's and as funny as my **** sounds it sounds pretty damn good u can hear it from almost anywhere in a house and all that good **** but how many pieces do u think i will need for that
yes....finding a square root of a number is the same as taking that number ^(1/2) finding the cubed root is taking that number ^(1/3)
plus i got another question bout the box making process when i am sealing it what do i use what all points do i put the seal in and when putting the carpet ect. on it how do i make it look like there are no seams
As for sealing the box, i recomend 100% silicone, color does not matter, just get the cheap stuff. Run a bead on all corners, then smooth it out with your finger tip. (a little goes a long ways) As for the carpeting..............Well............That just is something that is reeally hard to explain online!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What I always do is wrap the box with carpet then using a nice SHARP utility knife, over lap the lyers on the back side, then cut through both layers, pull off the excess and there ya go, a nice seam. as for the other 2, this takes some practice, a pair of carpet shears (scissors) are needed. Cut a peice of carpet a few inchesbigger all the way around then what the box is, then carefully spray glue onto the box and the carpet. heavy on the carpet!!!! apply the carpet to the side and then carefully, holding the shears at a 45 degree angle to the edges, cut away the excess. This is realy something that take s practice to do really good. That is the wya I do it. I suggest using a 3M product for the spray adhesive.
alright so if i were gonna put 2 speakers in the same box would i just make it 40x20x20 for the outside dimensions ??
and would it hurt the sound if i were too put bolts through the bottom of the box at certain points so i could have it bolted too the floor of my van and if not would that be a good spot ta put some sealant too??
Actually thats right, but thats really a big box, how large are these woofers? Yes you can bolt it to the floor.
