Ranger I love that van...what is the hight number you've reached in that???

And didn't you say a while back that the box isn't back far enough to be maximally efficient or something??? lol

Damn I like those old school strokers

The loudest on our shops meter 162.8

The loudest ever at a competition 164.1.

    Two windshields destroyed.

After this summer I might take it apart, I don't compete much anymore, and I could start paying back some student loans

Wow, those strokers bring back memories!

i remember when they first come out.....we got in an 18 incher. Built a box for it(vented) and plugged into the wall..............It really didnt care!!!!!!

I f i remeber right, I THINK that was the woofer i wired to 240 single phase in the shop, not sure, If it was, it took that too, for a while.....stopped when i could smell "voice coil"......

Yes, Decibels. And I hate to tell ya'll this but those ain't Strokers. They are Planet Audio FU-18's. We are a Planet Audio Dealer remember, I got these subs cheap. Mine are the dual 2-ohm version. They are not made any more.

Batterries are Interstate group size 65. No Gell Cell will stand up to those Class D amps for very long

Ranger so are you saying that normal lead acid batteries are tougher at high loads than gel cells like optimas and kinetiks??

In most installs I like Gell Cells. But the van is not "most installs". The van is a SPL vehicle ONLY. In fact the only speakers in the van are the 2 FU-18's. I dont need 6 x 9's for loud.

Now each amp has a surge current draw of over 180 amps. During competion I cannot have a voltage drop of more than 1-volt. The lead acid batteries can maintain a higher voltage (for a short period of time) under extreme loads than the Gell Cell (this is something I learn through experience). Also I like big batteries, (I don't think this is true but it makes sense to me), big battery means more capacity. Not Cranking amps.

This is only true for a very short period of time. Now if I were to redo this van, it would have 8 batteries not 4

You need a bigger SUV, min recommended air space for 1 is 8 cu ft, mine are in 2 13 cu ft boxes. And unless you have a minimum of 2500 watts, forget it
