most people in this forum would tell you that an entire system with a $1000 limit is not enough. I just bought 2 15' single 4 ohm subs, each 450rms, amp with 900rms at 2 ohm, head unit, 1.2 cap, 4awg wires. all for under 775. and i'd say im very HAPPY.. Im not going into contest and i still have trouble breathing sometimes lol.. expensive isnt always better. You treat your equipment correct and they will treat you.

I am not sure that MOST people here would give a thumbs down to $1,000 budget....I myself don't judge a budget as good or bad, if it is reasonable...

If someone were to say...I have a $1,000 budget and I want a top of the line HU, dual 31 band mono EQ's, top notch active crossovers, plenty of amps and plenty of power to bi-amp front separates, rear separates, 4 12" subs in a lit up plexiglass box, motorized amp rack, dynamat, aftermarket wiring and alternator all installed and dialed in with an RTA.......Then I would say....Good luck......Let me think for a minute what my budget is....hmmmm

HU.... JVC KD-G820...$200.00 (wiring harness, face plate adapt. incl)
    Sub....JL audio 10w6...$150.00 (I think)
    Fronts....Infinity Reference separates...$180.00
    Rears...Infinity reference 4x6......$80.00
    Amp...Older Blaunpunkt....4 channel...about $200.00
    Sub Enclosure....Q-Logic....$229.00
    Wiring.....$100.00

    Near future.....Sub amp...Kenwood KAC-9152.....$200.00

That is a total of $1339.00

I have purchased the stuff a few pieces at a time and installed it all myself...Right now, only the Blaupunkt, sub and headunit are in my truck...The other stuff is idle waiting for me to jump on it.....

I could have easily trimmed that budget to $1,000.00 or less.....but.....
I really love Infinity's speakers...My front doors have factory separates. I chose the Reference instead of the Kappa's just for money's sake....I could have built a sub enclosure instead of buying the Q-logic, but chose not to. I could run the HU to the rears and the subs off of a bridged half of the Blaupunkt, the fronts off the other two channels....These changes alone would have saved me quite a bit and the SQ would maybe be just a touch less, but I wanted to have more control over the individual channels with picking the high-pass of the fronts and rears and getting a dedicated sub amp..My system will sound good...it will hit pretty hard.....and the very most important thing is it will make ME smile......

Would I rather have a $3,000.00 budget? Yes indeed.....But $1,000.00 is very doable for a great sounding system and even $500.00 added to a decent factory set up will get you a good sounding system....

all of these of course are just my opinions....

Busted 51.....It sounds like you did the logical thing....You bought with your ears and got a great sounding system for yourself..I hope nobody ever let's a budget number discourage them from improving the sound they want to hear.

OK, you have a thousand bucks....

Now, what kind of music do you listen too?
Do you want it LOUD and BOOMY ?
    a nice SQ system?
    A little of both?

Not knowing the answers to these questions makes it very hard to help you out.....

first off you should look at a bandpass box, which sounds really nice in any car with a hatch

and your perception changes as time goes on.. I have less than 800 in my current setup, but I'm about to drop 1g just on new subs..

I miss the days when I could make cheap crap sound as good as I wanted..

any subs sound great in a hatchback..sealed, ported, or bandpass ( i do prefer the bandpass, though) hatchbacks are fantastic for putting soundwaves at the back of your head.. especially if there is a curvature to the back window..

Nothing against you but $775 is expensive for crap. My first clue is the cap. That isnt a complete system either.

loud and bass eh.. throw in a memphis belle 16-MCH1300. get 2 dual 4ohm subs like Alpine R's or something. Get like an Eclipse CD3000 hu and some 6.5" component speakers. all done.
