I have 40 RMS watt back speakers, and 50 RMS front components. any suggestions of what to get or good brands?
I would either suggest a 50watt x 4 amp if you want fade control, or a 100watt x 2 if you dont care about fade........preferably either one with an active x-over if you are using a sub in the system.....what brand???? ya......that one. but especially orion
here you go , a few suggestions depending on your budget. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-s1mOmnvRifM/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=489AP740 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1702.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6472.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7167.html http://www.crutchfield.com/S-s1mOmnvRifM/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=206ZX3504
Well, I don't really care about crossovers..so should I get a two channel amp? What would I do with that..just split each channel to go to two speakers or something? 2 channels seem a good bit cheaper anyway...I don't really wanna spend more than $70...once again, I am not looking for the best stuff..
alright this is some of the stuff i have found if you want to spend a few extra bucks.. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vGxGdE7wiiU/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=489AP400 or if you want to stay under 70 bucks.. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6204.html
wire the front speakers on one channel and the rear speakers on the other channel both wires in parallel so you are running a 2ohm load... assuming your speakers are 4ohm speakers..
VERY bad idea.......you would lose ALL stereo effeect and imaging. Wire front left and rear left together on the left ouput, and the same on the right side for the same 2 ohm per channel load and maintain some stereo effects!
so the amp is 85 Watts @ 4 ohm, and 105 @ 2 ohm...if I do what you said, what would the wattage be per speaker? I'm all confused
yeah viking you are right i wasnt thinking on that one. I was thinking about the fact that his front speakers are rated at a different power than his rear speakers so they are going to sound kinda funky sharing the same amount of power. Which is why i prefer 4 channel amps.. but to each his own. Anyways you will be wired for 2ohms so ideally you will have 105 watts on each side of the car so the left side speakers are going to share 105 watts and the right side 105 watts.. and math tells me 52.5 watts to each speaker at rms.. although! I doubt that it is really at rated power because of its cost but it could be i guess. Anyways, you will then need to set your gains correctly so maybe take it to a professional installer to get them to set it right or you could do it yourself but it can be a bit confusing at times for someone who has never done it before or has the tools to do it.
Another great way to run a 2 channel amp and maintain some front imaging with rear fill is to run 4 ohm drivers in the front with 8 ohm drivers in the rear...............works quite well actually.....
