I was wondering if anyone knew anything about CDT Audio. I have not really heard anything about them, and I now have an opportunity to purchase a sub from them, so any input would be helpful....

    Subs... not so sure on.

They have some really nice component sets.

I heard their demo car at CES 2 years ago, and it was nice... no complaints from the sub department.

Depends on what you are looking for - that demo car (and really everything about CDT) was set up for pure sound quality.

Sub looked like your typical build-house nonproprietary sub... my concern with any pure-SQ company is that they use old-school pure-SQ mentalities with sub designs - often meaning a sub that sounds great but doesn't get loud.

...and that's not necessarily a bad thing, since the #1 complaint from SQ judges is "too much bass!" - but is that what you are looking for? ;)

eh... I dont' know... I am definitely going for sound quality. I would like something that will get loud enough, but mainly something that will have great quality. I have heard that it was a decent sub, but you know how that goes....

I know CDT's 'newest' sub does 20-22 mm xmax, so it should get plenty loud for most anyone (save super bassheads). I'm not a fan at all of their entry level component sets, but their HD line and Euro line are highly regarded and (supposedly) don't need too much work to sound great 'out of the box'. The HD line seems to be for people who want really good sound without investing a lot of time and money on the install. More or less 'drop-in solutions'...as much as a comp set can be called one. The Euro's, however, cost around $800 authorized and that reason alone makes most who own them go all out on the install to squeeze every last bit of performance out of them.

    Ok, did a quick search...

    "Long Excursion Subs"

They now have a sub that will throw about 15 mm and one that does 20 (I like the rear end on the HD's). I'd imagine the Euro series bests both in xmax (and hopefully a few other areas...not implying that xmax is the only spec to focus on...although it does have a direct effect on ouput)...whenever that may be.

    :)
