I heard this from a friend I know and trust, but its still "a friend of a friend" story. here was what he said to me:
"Just got off of the phone with an old hometown buddy that works in NYC for an international finance company. He is a finance manager for this company, and he has done big buyouts and what not (like billions of $$)...anywho he told me that he read a report about Fosgate going belly up, since their products are basically loosing any foothold they had in the market. Their subsidiary MBQuart has been slowing declining in sales and this quarter they are scheduled for a 78% loss! If you are into business finance, you know those are sad numbers. Rockford will begin by going into a liquidation of assets starting the second quarter, selling off its smaller companies to help repay debts, but dont look for them to last very much longer than 2 years. Sorry guys....dont expect your amps or subs to have much more of a warranty on it..."
surely someone, somewhere would have some information on this??

i PMed one of the mods on carsound about it and he told me "There's been some speculation on that topic. The best answer I've found is that RF is just restructuring, getting rid of some stuff (some companies), cleaning up their finances, and will try to basically downsize to become stronger. I guess time will tell."

lol, Kicker Better be watching Closly........

with Kicker Annoucment to be in CC this Spring they are following down the Same Path as RF has done

large Retailers want 1 thing, HIGH PROFITS, at the COST of quality..

RF learned this lesson the Hard way

at some point in my life time the small "mom and pop" retailer will be no more. Most are alreayd out of biz. the Rest will soon follow

all that will be left is the Big Compaines that Could Care less.

and then shortly after that, all that will be Left is WAL_MART

    we will have

    WALMART home improvment
    WALMART video store
    WALMART gas station
    WALMART fast food
    WALMART Electronics Depot

    Get the Picture.

and we will all work for WALMART, making $5.50 per hr...

    Good Times are ahead ;)

I think people are confusing MB Quart's receivership with RF having financial difficulties...
    I'm a skeptic though, fundamentally.

I do agree with Kicker following RF's lead, though... I'm not particularly happy with it.
Mostly cosmetic observances (since I think Kicker's quality goes through most of their lines, even the Comp VR's are nice, and the Comps are decent for wimpy little speakers :D)...

RF went with "Toys R Us" cosmetics two years ago...
Kicker goes with "Toys R Us" cosmetics this year.

Maybe it's just me going "Ick"... I'm just not a fan.

    but you are right -
Rockford Fosgate in Best Buy last year....
Kicker in Circuit City this year?

It seems like good advice to give anyone:
Don't stare at the ass of the guy in front of you, or people will give YOU a funny regard. :p

so who is MB Quart in dispute over the name with? With RF or MBQ? Yes, there is a MBQ brand in case someone did not know...

If RF still owns MB, then shall we expect german made RF speakers or U.S. (China?) made RF drivers?

ugh, neither RF or Kicker ever had any sense of aesthetics... They just switched from one tacky/ugly to another... Before though, they both were kinda purpose built/industrial ugly (like old MTX and Lanzar) and now bling bling/rice ugly... this really sucks... :(

I'm not all that excited about seeing alpine go, and I am a little wary about seeing Kicker come in. DEI is also coming back to CC, Seems like to much flip flopping, not enough stability. I wish that CC would have kept alpine, and just picked up kicker and dropped audiobahn.

well as much as I hate them Big Box Retailers are going to take over completely

At some point, in the not too distant Future the small local shop will not be there any more.

It is sad, but sooo true...

then ofcourse shortly after that, Walmart will buy all of them :D

I don't agree... but I think small shops need to adapt.

Success is as simple as the answer to the question "Why would I want to go to a small shop, as opposed to a big chain store?"

One reason would be service... local shops that spit attitude with no gratitude are already on shaky ground.
On the other hand, a shop that goes out of the way to ensure the customer has an "above and beyond" shopping experience will stand out.

Another reason would be expertise, and general quality.
It's an easy one to take advantage of: Big chain stores are iknown by everyone to hire minimum wage flunkies, who are either too young, or too unqualified to get real jobs elsewhere, with very few exceptions.
Local shops that try to save a buck by hiring teenagers that just think "working at a car audio shop is cool" are already on shaky ground...
Local shops that hire true experts, that really can consult a customer to really identify their wants and needs - and can deliver exactly to their expectations - will easily win out over a big chain store that lets a newbie pick out their own components. Kudos to those that can discuss a customer's expectations with them, and then actually point out where they went wrong... using their skills to actually nail the system's weakness in such a way that the customer realizes the mistake. ;)

    Etc.

I disagree, as Service is meaningless today, no body cares about SERVICE, they care about PRICE

if service was important, no one would shop at walmart, yet walmart is the biggest retailer in the world

Even in the Corperate World Price is winning out over Service
