Well I have given up on SPL and I plan on giving a moderately priced SQ install a shot.

I am going to be running a single 12" sub with 300-500 watts sealed. Probably front firing with the trunk sealed off. WIll be mated to my Kodas which will be recieving up to 125 watts per.

To find the right sub I plan on getting 3-5 different subs in the <$200 price range and testing them all in a common enclosure that is a happy medium. I may go ahead and do 3 different enclosures for testing. I also have a 1.8 cube @ 28hz bass reflex I could test them in. Bassbox Pro will be used to model the subs and plan enclosure(s). I will do a short write up with my results/opinion of each driver so that people looking for a similar setup will have something to go by. It will be judged by me an me alone with my ears. It wont't be done until this summer but I figured I would get some suggestions on what to test now so that there is plenty of time to get a decent list of drivers. I will be selling off all/most of the drivers that I do not end up using in car so it will also provide a decent oppurtunity for some people to pick up some barely used SQ drivers at a slightly discounted price.

I am really interested in the Ascendant Audio Atlas so it is a definate in the testing. The Image Dynamics IDQ is also a possibility since the best sounding install I have ever heard used a pair. I know Adire is reworking the Shiva/Tempest and giving each its own line. It is rumored that they both will recieve XBL^2 treatment. The Koda 12 should also be coming out as well yet its above the $200 mark with their current pricing. Been waiting on the Better Audio ELX. Was talk of end of last year/beginning of this year release. ::cough::geo?::cough:: It would be nice to get a TC driver in there too so the Sound Splinter RLi is a consideration. I also threw a Focal, DLS, ADS, and Nak driver in the poll since all companies are known for their sound quality and they have drivers in the price range. I am open to all suggestions and if there are enough requests for a certain driver I may just add it. Just remember my feelings about a certain company when suggesting ;) Also feel free to post a link to an online merchant with them for sale if you see a good price.

    Major interests:
    1. Ascendant Audio Atlas
    2. Adire offering
    3. Better Audio ELX (if available)

Fug, I give you one month before you're back to being a bass head. Get an RE XXX, Adire Brahma, JL w7, IDmax, DD 9900, and be done with it.

He is just giving me shit. He knows I can afford whatever I want really. I am just trying to keep it cheap but I doubt thats going to happen.

I am already considering testing 3 drivers at any price with 600w or less instead. Might as well do it right the first time so I dont upgrade AGAIN later. Then I will just get the Atlas so I can sample XBL^2 and throw it in my bedroom or something. I have had a few people now suggest the Focal 27V2 so I will probably grab one of those for testing.

Huge company dual gap Koda competitor for just over $200.

Give the new W1 a test drive while you're at it :)

Sorry boys buy I am going to have to scrap this project or at least ignore it completely until summer time. I had planned on shopping up until then but I dont even want to think about it or I know I will end up buying something.

My work seems to be doing a little downsizing. They just let go the only other person who has been here longer than me(not to mention our hardest worker!) and someone in another department. I can't risk making any big spending until I at least have another job lined up.

OK I am totally lost as to whats going on.

Yesterday they fire two people which we know has nothing to do with work performance. Today they announce we will be filing a Chapter 11 so that we can start fresh. They say no jobs are in trouble and that they appreciate us and yadda yadda yadda and then give everyone in my department a $1/hr raise.

I am confused. But, hey, the testing may be back on. I am just going to give it a month before I purchase anything unless I spot a deal or a good used item.

hehehe When companies start that crap I start looking fro the exits......

I dont play games with my Pay Checks.

There was a RUMOR about contract Problems with a company I worked for 1 yr ago, I jumped ship before that ship left dry dock. The company is still there and probally will be but only because they sold out to a bigger company and cut the employee benfits and pay. (I was making on ave $14/hr now they make like $9-10)

Now I work for a much more stable company with better benfits (atleast for now) and if they start screwing up, I will Jumb Ship to.

Like I told my boss, I was looking for a job when I found this one :D

Yeah its weird. Its actually 3 employees that got fired I found out late today too.

Thats a lot considering we only had like 20 people before this. I am definately going to try and line up a job I can fall back on. But the money is just too good where I am at to leave on my own. PLus the work is cake.

and that is probally why they are failing...

Take what your paid multiply that by 2 and that is what is costs the employer.

The largest Bakery's and one of the most well known brands in america is failing for the same reason, Employees are paid more than the company can support...

Things people dont think about when your the Employee............
