Well I finally finished the body work on the enclosures. They are now off getting covered in vinyl. Anyway, here's some pics:

I am now working on the electrical. I ran two 4 awg power wires to where the amps will be mounted, as well as the speaker wires. I now have to run the ground wires and RCA's. I also put in the port. I am using 4" dryer vent (as suggested by Dan) and am running it under the enclosure where the spare tire would reside. Underneath that is the battery. Here's a picture of the port:

My next job is to fiberglass the top of the dash in one of the 944's. They want it to be painted, so there will be a great deal of body work to do. I hope I get it done this year. :bye:

Maybe I missed other posts about this...

    What's the right enclosure for?

Notsure if there's other pics of it, but I saw it when I headed over for a visit last month.

Looking good. I'm still curious how the dryer vent thing's gonna workout, Possibly interested in doing something similar actually.

ah, okay. Have some ducting to bring in some cool air to the amps or are you sealing them in like that :S

They will be completely covered, but I'm not too worried about them as it is a large area and they both have fans.

How did you shape them? Did you just use cloth and a wood skeleton or something?

How does the port attach to the box? And are you securing the other end somewhere?

Man, that looks exactly how it was before when I saw it in person!!! lol

On one of those links above I have a link to my webpage where I show how I make them. Or you can click on my name and "visit my homepage". I believe it is page 7.

I did some body work since you last saw them, but yes it took way too long.

As for the port, I just cut a hole for it to go through the plastic cover and through the bottom of the enclosure. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to permanently attatch and seal it.

Here's the hole for the 4" port to go into the enclosure. The port actually sits under the enclosure in the spare tire well.

I somehow missed the vinyl bit. Those're looking nice. Haven't managed to toss a sub in there and see how that dryer vent port thing works, have you? I'm VERY interested in this, as I'm thinking ported brahma12's getting closer and closer to a reality for me. But I still wanna keep a tucked away f/g box setup (kinda like It was when I stopped by with my eD12a in the blue mazda)

Nice work Stephen, as always. :) The enclosures look better than the cars interior. :p

I'm still curious about that port. It doesn't vent into the listening area. Looks like you made a bass trap. What gives? Cone control?

No, it should act like a regular port. I asked Dan about this, and he said it should be fine. It isn't sealed in there or anything.

And thanks guys. The vinyl is finally dyed the proper color. I just have to finish mounting the amplifiers and it will be done.

Looking good. How did it sound using the dryer vent for a port?
