I just got a Brahama 12, had it for about a week or so. Still breaking it in but I think I may have too much power for it. I built a .75 cube box, kinda, I messed up on the deminsions and made it 1-1/2 in deeper than it should be. More boxes will be made though getting better at this. I also made a 2.2 cube ported box tuned to 30 hz. i think I like the sealed box better though.

I have Brutus bx1500d powering it. In the sealed box it should be fine with a watchful eye on the gain right. Still it's new and seems to break up on those hard to control slam sessions, however short they are. This is wired to 1 ohm at the moment. Would I be better off to wire each voice coil to the amp in it's own channel. Or wire it to 4 ohm and than to it's own channel. I'm not sure what this would bring the final power load too. Or another thing I just thought of wiring it to 4 ohm than bridging it to the amp which should bring it down to a 2 ohm load thus 1000X2. Sorry for the stupidity. I have learned a lot in the past couple of years I have been back heavily into car audio but these are areas I am still confused in.

One more thing I want this as an Sql setup more towards SQ. Sealed is the way for me right now.

Ok one more thing what would you do for a seald box, size wise, I know Steven went down to .65 or something. But I can go any size sealed I need to. Maybe I will build one of every size this winter.

    bx1500d
    4 ohm 500X1
    2 ohm 1000X1
    1 ohm 1500X1

Your only options with that amp & sub are 1 ohm or 4 ohm, it's not a two channel amp, it just has 4 terminals for convenience.

I'm no authority, but I'm verymuch inclined tosay taht I'd stick with sealed, and play around the size of box that youve got now. If youv'e got the means, feel free to experiment, but I'd keep it runnign 1ohm. If you want you could set it up so you could switch between one and 4, leave it in 4 for daily driving and SQ, but when you wanna bump switch it over to 1. but for simplicity, if everythings' stabel to handle it, I'd just leave it at one ohm, you can always back off your amp with the gains. And I REALLY don't think that overpowering is THAT bad of a thing until you start clipping, etc.

Box-wise, I'd just stick with a standard sealed setup somewhere in the sub-foot range. IF you want to see what a smaller box sounds like, just throw some blocks of wood or whathaveyou in there to occupy area. (.85cubic foot box+.15cubic foot chunk of wood=.7cubic feet) If you wanna try another ported, try tuning it lower, something like 25 atleast, perhaps lower even.

I run 1700 watts to my Brahma with no issues. I don't honestly believe the Brahma is breaking up in that box. My thought it you may be a bit high on the gains, causing clipping.

I might like a bit less power in that enclosure, and fortunately you do have a gain knob. I'd suggest turning the gains down to 5 volts and go from there.

I tried several boxes with several power levels, and have found my preferance to be the full 1700 in just a shade under 2 feet tuned to 23.5 Hz. It is totally transparent and has eliminated my pesky peak at about 32Hz in the car. But that is personal preferance.

Leave it loaded at 1 ohm, and give it all 1500. But turn those gains back a bit.
