So i installed my third amp today, for my 6x9's in the back, and all of a sudden i have a crazy whine noise that gets louder with the revs of my engine. I don't even have the 6x9's in yet, so it all coming from the front speakers. My power wire doesn't run anymore than 4 inches with the rcas, and crosses them once or twice in the trunk near the box (distro block). power and rcas are running down opposite sides of the car. The the hell else could be causing this? Thanks BTW I tried disconnecting the amp i just installed, and the noise persists. All i fvcking changed was adding an additional power wire from the distro, and a ground. They run in the same places that the power/ground for the other amps do.
Most likely no... But you could doublecheck this. I typically run ONE remote wire to the back, and just jumper them from amp to amp to amp... You might need to add a relay, so the remote wire simply switches the relay on, which in turn sends 12v power from your distribution block to the remote leads on each amp. If you disconnect this third amp's remote wire (so it shuts off), does the noise go away? Are you sure that ground is good- good enough for 3 amps?
i completely disconnected that amp, power ground and remote... arg!! i wish i had a picture to illustrate this better. and each amp has it's own ground wire, they are all wire tied together and run to the same ground spot on the side of my trunk. I'll draw up a diagram and maybe that'll help. not to sound stupid, but could you explain this relay thing to me a little better and how it could help my problem. this noise is driving me nuts!! my friend also said that they sell modulators to correct this problem, but i hate spending money when i didnt have this issue ever until now.
http://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/368825 blue is remote, green is rca's, black ground and red power. Thanks!
and did that solve the problem??? Noise issues are created by infinate Number of Causes, it will be impossible for any of use to do more than "guess" what it is, and I can right now mke a list of ALOT of possibles the best method is to use the process of elimination, first step in that is to isolate the Cause of the problem in this case which amp? if you disconnected the new amp and the noise stopped we can assume it is isolated at the connections for that amp Now you have to detremine if it is RCA induced nosie or Power Induced noise the Best way to do that is Disconnect the RCAs only and leave the Amp Powered and ON. if the noise is present still it is Power Induced noise
If there is whining in your music, then stop listening to Guns and Roses.... that should fix the problem ok ok.... I know Axle Rose jokes arent funny, but I just had to :lmfao:
So I rewired everything, got my back speakers, and hooked up the new amp. I turns out the RCA for my front speakers was causing the noise. I hooked up the rear speaker RCA to the amp, and the noise went away. Then I just used a small home audio RCA to jumper the amps. However, now I can't fade. All of my RCAs are identical, i just bought them, and they all are run on the exact same path. It is just this one causing noise. Is it just defective all of a sudden?
cheap RCA's have a tendancey to get Damaged Ends and by Cheap I dont neccesarrly mean in price what Brand are they, I have used Tsunami 600 or 650 Series for Years and never had any problem, and they are moderatly priced
Hmm... Yet another reason to ditch your back speakers? (in addition to these: http://www.betteraudio.com/geolemon/phasin...ing/phasing.htm ) Of course, you could permanently fade them using the gain controls on the 2 amps. They should be inaudible from the front seats. I'd simply ditch them, and enjoy the benefits of having more sub-bass in your cabin as well, if you have a sedan or coupe, where the vacant holes allow your sub to essentially be in the listening space, where it can't be otherwise. It's likely that the one set got pulled, or was adjacent to something... Or possibly there's an issue with the connection of that rear RCA output on your deck. It wouldnt' be a big deal for me... all my cars have exactly 1 set of RCA cables coming off the HU.
