Nice sub. Amoung the Elite IMHO. There are maybe 3 or 4 subs I can say that may sound better.

I want it to perform as an SQL driver, what enclosure should I put it in?

Does a 1.5 sealed sound good?
or is something like a 2.0 ported a better idea?

    Its gonna be a 12"

I need to catch MIKE on AIM so we can figure this out!!!
    :D

It's supposed to sound better than the IDQ's, and the IDQ is the best SQ sub i've heard to date and i run a 10w7 now (in a different box it may be more to my liking...). In any case, it's definitely a great sub.

Which subs did you have in mind Seth? Aside from the Brahma? Oh, and is there someone in Greensboro that sells ID or someone in 'boro that has an IDMAX in their car?? I've been wanting to hear one outside a shop and it appears as if you may have found someone...let me know. Thanks.

The B12, 13W7, 10W7, Eclipse TI (maybe... that is the "or 4" in the group). I think the IDQ is a great sub, but I don't knoow that I could put it in that elite group of subs, not only from an output standpoint, but also an SQ perspective as well.

I met a boy at a car show that had 1 in a Chevelle. It was a year old, so I assume it was a V2. It was very crisp, and quick. I was very impressed. I felt it was a bit fatiguing though.

    Civic...

1.5 sealed is great. If you want to port, I suggest right at 2 feet tuned to 26Hz or so.

No, i agree, the IDQ isn't in the same class as those subs you mentioned because it will not come near any of them in terms of output. I'll also agree that the IDQ's lacked a bit of low end, but that was probably due to the fact that the boxes weren't as large as they could have been.

IMO, the 10w7 sounds alot like the brahma in the setup i have it in now. It has that warmer sound (not quite that of the brahma), and kinda rolls over the notes instead of being punchy. I believe i'd prefer to lose some low end and gain some punch. For that reason, i'd probably take the IDMAX above a couple of those subs (namely the Eclipse Ti) because it does tend to be a little more punchy.

So if it was your choice to go with a 1.5 sealed (more punch) or a 2.0 ported (more low end) what would you do?

That's going to be a personal preference thing there... For me i would go sealed, but i'm fairly certain Seth would go ported to gain the low end.

Actually, as of late, he's shown a lot more interest in getting back to his sealed setup. Personally, i'd definately go sealed. Any of these Elite woofers would have enough low end for me sealed..

    :rifle:

Take that chris! aaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaa!!!!!! I got guns!

Can someone give me some feedback on this box?

Supposedly you can make it work as a ported or a sealed box. Its 1.25 cu ft.......too small?

    Hows the price?

    I'd give $10 for that box :D .

Anyways, If you prefer punchy, go with 1.5 or so. If you are looking for greater extension, and better transients, go big.

Actually Chris, I am going back to sealed. I am planning on doing Dual B12s sealed, with ~900-1200 per. I really like the DEI 2400D, or dual 1100Ds. But I am a Cadence man at heart, and may just do dual Z9000s. I am considering bigger boxes overall, so less power will be almost assured.

You dont think that box is too big?

Can someone tell me what kinda difference you see in a sub when you go from a smaller sealed to a larger sealed box?

rwillis23 on CAF told me he is willing to sell his 1.5 sealed box that he used for his IDMAX.........he said he would give it to me for 65 shipped......should I go for it?

    I think he built it

you can always DECREASE the volume, but it is hard to INCREASE the volume.......................

and I think it would be fine in 1.75 cubes, if nothing elese you could port it :D

You can kinda increase the volume with polyfill...well not really...anyway...

In a smaller box the sub will be more punchy, but you'll lose some low end. In a larger box the sub will have more low end, but will lose some punchiness.

I'm gonna agree here. I might be interested in knowing what power you are considering before a final reccomendation, but that is a good place to start.
