Here's the deal. a good friend of mine has a BMW 528i 1997 model. He wants to to put a system in it but i've never tried doing a bimmer. currently, he has 2 sets of MB quart reference components in the front and rear. He doesn't want to touch the stock stereo so i'm going to use a LOC. Problem is that bimmers have built in amps with a lot of confusing wires (colors change from the head unit to the amp). His 5 series doesn't have the DSP in it.

What i need help with is how to wire a amp to the the component speakers (he's using a DLS amp) and a sub amp he wants to put a sub (12" shallow mount kicker) in the truck off a 400 watt PG amp.

the good thing about bimmers is the battery is in the trunk so it looks like the runs are going to be very short. I just really need help figuring where to tap the speaker wires before the amp. I still have time, i won't do the install til the first saturday of November.

im guessing you have to pull out the head and check out the wires one by one. then rewire the speakers from the amps. leave the stock ones alone. thats what i would try to do.

um i guess you havent had any luck finding wiring schematics?

I did find some schematics. Never did any sort of wire tapping though. how do you suggest i go about it. solder everything? it's kinda cool though, everything can be done in the trunk, that's where all he wires are for the speakers. Talked to a friend on Sunday that also has a bimmer and he said there is no need at all to take the stock stereo out for any kind of wiring. That was good news.

i found some stuff on http://bmwtips.com/
