I bought a new pit vehicle about a week ago for when i go racing and am wanting to put a very small stereo in it.

What ive got is a 2010 Club Car XRT 900 with a 11.5 hp gas motor.
its not a "Golf Cart", it is a utility cart by Club Car

What im wanting to do is add some sound that doesnt require too much power.
Really wanting to stay around the 100 to 200w range.
Im not looking to amaze anyone or set any DB records for the loudest golf cart.

Here is what ive got to work with-

And here's the cart over all..

I would like to put a speaker in the left compartment and the head unit and a speaker in the right compartment.

After taking some measurements i have come to find out that i will not be able to go with a 6.5" speaker as planned.
Each compartment is just under 6"s tall.
The left side is 9 1/2" wide, about 10" deep.
The right compartment is around 18" wide and 9 1/2" deep.

Both compartments are solid plastic besides a little drain hole in the back.
So will be easy to seal up.

Right now my options are 5 1/4" speakers.
Would like to put in a set of components that sound great.

Not looking to rattle off my lug nuts or take anyones breath away.
Just want good sound that i can play at decent volume.

Would like to keep the cost of the components under $75-$80.
Ive got plenty of room for the crossovers and the amp right under the seat.

So any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch for everyone's time!

im pretty sure just deck power will be enough for what you have planned. ive heard some with just deck power and they got plenty loud since the speakers are on axis to you.

if not then you can always add an amp later i guess.

I would go with some Polk speakers since they are marine certified. Let me see what i can find for ya bud.

Im really liking the speakers you picked out.
Ive already got a head unit lined up.

How would i wire each of those Polk speakers to 2 ohms?

    Thanks for your time dude!

why would you want to wire them into 2ohms? if you'll just start with using the head unit power then keep them at 4ohms or you'll blow your deck.

You many also want to take a look at phoenix gold RSD's 6.5" components. you have more than enough room to fit them intead of going with 5.25" components and they'll sound much better...

How am i going to fit a 6" speaker into an opening that has just barely 6"s of clearance?

And i wasnt planning on running with deck power.
I would like to run an amp.

those polks will get loud enough and sound goo off deck power if you want to save some money. you cant wire them to 2ohms either...

If the 6" set sounds good, how good does the 5.25" sound?

for the money those RSD's sound good. I'm sure the polks will sound better but at the price for the RSD's you can't beat them.. they are very highly rated components on a budget. the only feedback i've heard about them is that the tweets could sound a little better.

Sonic electronix has the polks listed on their site for $109 plus $19.73 for shipping.
Same company has the same speakers on ebay for $109 with free shipping. wtf.

i am going to go ahead and buy the Polk Audio DB5251's over the Phoenix gold's only because of the marine certification on the Polk's.
The phoenix's will probably hold up just fine, i just want a bit of security i guess.

So far the only thing ive bought is the marine cover for the face of the head unit.
Bidding on an AM/FM antenna, i'll buy the speakers when i buy the head unit which should be today hopefully.

Alright i need some suggestions for a head unit.

Really would like an Alpine or a Pioneer.

    My limit is about $250.

I was going to buy an Alpine 9815 from guy i know.
He suddenly turned into a dick and well now im not buying it.
So im looking for a new head unit.
Something with plenty of power for what im looking to do.
Something that looks nice as well as sounds nice as well.

    Thanks !
