I gots the 2 12 ma120xe drivers. and got a ton of trunk space.... so I have crunched out a couple different box sizes. any suggestions or corrections. 36w 18 h 12 d = 4.125 cuft with a slot port 6.5h x 3w and 25" long. 36w X 14H X 17D... about 5cuft. with a slot port 17w X 3.5h at 15.68 inches Length... but I also got 36w X 14H X 17D... about 5cuft. 14h X 8.5w and 35 inches long.... I think iam having trouble converting ports to square/vents. any ideas??¿ the subs call for 2, 4" ports per driver and a minimum of 2.0 cuft per... box is trying to be tuned to 38 Hz
IMO, enclosures are better bigger, BUT there is a cutoff point when the subs lose control and bottom out. Like G3 said recently, when you use low power, increase the box size and it increases the efficiency. Here's a link to play with. Its a not COMPLETELY accurate, but it will get the job done. If I remember right Pedro used it for his box. http://www.reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html
there is a point of diminishing returns where the power handling loss is not made up by the small efficiency gain.
