ok, new to forum, anyways i had a type r 12 alpine, with my new amp which is a kenwood 1800watt max. Amp puts out approx. 900 rms at 4 ohm. Fine for the type r, well i thought. i didnt buy the type r new btw, i traded for it. The rubber around the cone split from the cone so i figured thats done with. And i also had two 10 type e's. I had these setup with my old amp which was 1000 watts max about 500 rms, Kenwood btw. So, 1 of those blew, and i had the other one hooked up without having the amp brigded so half the power. So to get to the point, i have two empty boxes and i honestly do not know what to do. Im thinking either get two 10 type r's for roughly 225 total. Or, i could get a sick twelve like either a type X or a kicker cvx or even a jl w6. If you have any suggestions thatd be great. Im regretting trading my kicker 15 cvr. that thing was sooo loud. Wish i had the 1800 watt amp when i had that. Also, budget of about 250 at most.
Welcome. Sounds like you haven't had very good luck with subs. lol 2 10's would give you more cone area hence giving you louder bass. Now, I don't think your amp puts out 900rms at 4ohm. i'm going to take a stab at this and assume you have a KAC-9104D which is rated at: # RMS Power Rating: * 4 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan. * 2 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan. * 1 ohm: >900 watts x 1 chan. Is that your amp? OK, if i'm right and if you would want to go with one 12" then maybe you should take a look at Elemental Designs 13Ov.2. If you get one of these DVC 4ohm then wire it into a 2ohm load then that should slam pretty good. Here's the link: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product...id=35&osCsid=4224fd9f4a9f63e6c0602a32f85fa5ff Or you could get two 10" Alpine type R's DVC 4ohm and wire them at a 1ohm load to your amp. Over 900 watts going to two 10's would prolly make your ears bleed. lol http://cgi.ebay.com/2-ALPINE-SWR-1022D-10-Type-R-SUB-WOOFERS-3000W-pair_W0QQitemZ360092987007QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item360092987007&_trkparms=39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A3|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 the two options are within your budget.
Thanks for the input, yes i must have got the info wrong regarding my amp. But how would i wire down to 1 ohm?
Just follow this to wire your subs at one ohm if you will use two dual voice coil 4ohm subs. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=42 If you're going to use only one sub then you should get a DVC 2ohm sub. Here's how you can do it: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=22 Hope this helps.
