Help with system please.

Hi i'm chris and i'm having a slight problem with my system hopin someone could help. i have a 98 plymouth neon expresso highline. my system is a sony xplod CDX-F605X head unit. then i have autotek street machine sx-2300 800 watt 2 channel amplifier. hooked to it i have 2 hifonics brutus 15" BX15D2. the thing is when i furst hooked up this system it sounded really good.. it hit so hard that it ruined the diaphram in my fuel pump causing me to have to pay 300 bucks for a heavy duty one. i noticed my lights were dimming so i got a power acoustik PCNC-2f 3 farad capacitor and hooked it up. the system sounded good and the lights quit dimming but then the amp would just turn off. the protect light didn't come on the amp just shut off like the remote wire wasn't sendng a signal. then like 5 min. later the amp would turn back on and sound really good for like another 5 min. i thought it was the power cap so i unhooked it and straight wired the amp but it was still doing it. i was thinking that the power cap might have fried the amp. i know it might have seemed like the power cap was a little big for my system but i had a local shop do a diagnosis of my sytem and they said it was actually pulling closer to 2500 watts. my friend is gonna bring down one of his rockford fosgate amps and we're gonna test it an see if it has the same problem. but any help from you guys would be great. thanx a lot.. get back at me

First I would get rid of that cap...upgrade your big three, for more info read this
The Big 3....

Then read this about capacitors....they don't do squat
Capacitors, and why we dont need them

Do you have a solid ground?? A seat bolt is not a good ground

Unhook your remote wire and place jumper wire from the 12+ constant on the amp to the Remote on the amp and see if it still does it. If not, then you will have to add a relay on the remote wire.

Could be many things.

Low voltage
bad ground
Bad fuse
shorted voice coils (due to thermal issues)
bad amp
etc............

Hard to diagnose without a more detailed description of the operating conditions
