Ok, so basically I injured myself at (Subway Sandwiches) work, cut my finger, it required stitches, so I went to the emergency room. Told them I hurt myself at work and had my medical work done. The next day my boss left a workman's comp sheet for me to fill out, I forgot to fill it out the first day but then within the next 2 days filled it out. So time passes and 3 weeks later I get a bill from U of M (University of Michigan) hospital for $1,000+, I immediately go to my boss and ask what this is all about and then she say, "oh well I never submitted the form because I thought your health insurance would cover it" The fact that she said these exact words leads me to believe that she is an idiot. So anyways she say she will fill out another form, and send it in. It's about a month and a half later now and my boss says that the company (Subway) won't pay for it because the form was supposed to be filled out within 5 days, now I filled out my part and I remember signin and dating it, problem is she said the lost/threw it away so my question is, what should I do, I tried asking for her superiors number and she gave it to me and told me that she would contact her (my bosses superior) tommorow. My question is what can/should I do? My parents are offering no help (not that they should) and tell me it's my problem I have to deal with it, now we don't have a family lawyer or anything, and just paying for a lawyer would be more than the bill itself, so what can I do in case they drag their feet or try to deny responsibility, they know that I'm the little guy and probably can't do anything. I hurt myself on the job, I filled out the necessary form, and it is not my fault that the form was not delivered, so how am I responsible? Can you help me out or advise me on what to do?
