no fade left to right

Isuzu Rodeo:
Front speakers: Kicker 6.5 KS component (new)
Rear speakers: Kicker 4" R4 (old)
EQ: Kenwood (old)
Amp: Autotek "Street Machine" 4100x / 4 ch x 100w (old)

Recently installed. looks like the installer bridge the amp. ch1/2 for the front speakers. ch3/4 for rear. When I had this amp installed years ago with 4 speaker setup, the installer did not hook it up like this. Prob is, now I have no left to right fade. Is there a good reason he hooked it up this way and should I leave it be.

Also have a whining coming through my tweets that goes up and down with my engine rpm.

There should be a warranty with the installation.

There is no left or right because now there is only a front channel and a rear channel. The amp will be putting out more power if the installer wired the speakers in parallel

I would take your vehicle back and tell them that you want it wired up in 4 channel mode if you really want to adjust the sound from left to right

Thanks.
Looks like the front speaker +'s are wired together to the + terminal on chanel 1 and the front -'s are wired together to the - terminal on chanel 2. Same thing for the rear speakers on chanels 3 & 4. Does that sound like parallel ?
I guess the real questions are: Am I getting true stereo sound (sounds bouncing from left to right on some recordings)?
And. Should i even be concerned with L-R fade?

Thanks again 4 the response.

if the amp terminals are bridged...you are getting MONO sound...there is no STEREO sound there

The installer explained to me that fading left to right would send too much power to the component speakers that were being faded to and could damage the tweeter. Sounded hokey, but I let him go ahead with his work. I don't feel comfortable taking it back to a shop that might not know there buisiness as they should? What to do?

that just sounds dumb!!

if he bridged the amp at 8ohm mono(thats if the speakers are 4 ohm, which i'm assuming they are) thats the same as the 4 ohm stereo power!THE SAME!no diff in power output.

now if the amp is 2ohm mono stable, and he did that. then he's a complete boob, and you should get your money back or have them do it right!

was this a chain store or a private shop?

This was a private shop in Houston, TX. Should I name the shop.... I got a second opinion, and rewired it myself. Sounds better now. Thanks for the support.
