new to site ... is there a forum for installers regarding oem locations of newer cars

i haven't had alot of time to look on the site yet but is there a forum for the locations of oem amplifiers and such for the newer vehicles on the market yet? it's getting really hard to find the amplifiers on 2006 and 2007 vehicles to bypass them.

hmmmmmmmmm .... has anybody talked about starting a thread for installers talking about the newer vehicles (or older ). we just installed an aftermarket stereo in a 2007 toyota fourunner unlimited and it took 6 freakin hours kuz nobody makes a harness for this car yet.

the data signal for the computer actually travels through the factory head unit and displays a fault code on the head unit. for now, the only way to install an aftermarket head is to lengthen the factory harness by about 5 feet and install the factory head in the console box (except for the audio wires). install the aftermarket head in the factory location but only hook up two of the patch cables on your adaptor ( hook up all four and you get no audio )....... let your customer know that if installed this way fader and balance controls only work through the factory head and not the aftermarket head ( pain in the booty ). the amp recieves a data signal from the factory head for fader and balance controls ( i'm guessing ).

so unless your installing an aftermarket amp and bypassing the factory amp this is the crap you have to look forward to. but i still have no idea where the factory location is for this amp.

I havent seen one of those yet. In the past Toyota has always been good about putting the amp near the radio. Usually behind the radio somewhere. The only exception was the Avalon and it was in the passenger kick panel.
