Cap Question

Well my friend ordered some subs and amp and a whole package deal. I told him when he gets it I will help him hook it up.
Well he comes to me with a question, about a cap/capicitor, as to how to hook it up.
Boy do I look foolish, I don't know how to..

So how do you hook it up?
What kinda wires?
To the batter for + and ground for - and run a + to the amp?

run the power wire from batt...to cap...to amp....

ground the cap separate from the amp...
