Amps and Subs set up - Need help

hi guys just wondering if any one can help me with this dilemma.

i have been given a couple of different answers to this question and was hoping that someone would set the record strait for me......

is it possibl to run a DVC sub off a 4 channel amp using all 4 channels?

ie: using 2 channels for one voice coil.

It depends.. if the amp is bridgeable, and if so, is it bridgeable to two channel or one, and what is the amp stable at in either mode. (for ex.. is it 8, 4, or 2 ohm stable?) and what is the impedence of the dual voice coil subs..
dual 8 ohm, or dual 4 ohm..

the amp is 2 ohm stable and the sub is a vibe space 15" (1200 RMS) dual 4 ohm sub.

i had the vibe black 2 (500 RMS Each) air subs bridged onto 2 channels each running at 2 ohm and the amp never cut once.

at one stage i had 2 orion 12" subs running at 2 ohm and bridged the amp down to 1 ohm. the amp ran the subs like a dream.

either way, it will work.. if the sub is dual 4 ohm, then wire the amp on one channel (in parallel) to both vc's on the sub.. keep the level on the amp down until you're sure that you're not overpowering the sub, or stressing the amp. - should work fine, though!

yes, completely and utterly possible. but, it's not easy. sure, any moron can bridge a set of speaker outs but what the real problem here is voltage matching. channels 1&2 bridged will peak at some specified voltage (that I do not know because I am completely unfamiliar with your amp) this can be measured with an ohm meter. AC volts of course. Sending a sine sweep through until you find the desired voltage (that is dependant upon the ohms of the speaker and can be found by contacting the manufacturer). Do this with channels 3&4 as well (bridged of course). When the channels are matched you should have no problem running a four channel amp on a dual voice coil sub. This will yield maximum power from the amp. Don't try this without doing the voltage matching. You will destroy that sub quick. Also, if anyone cares. Most 4-channel amps are anticipated to be used to run subs and highs. because of this, channels 3 & 4 are always stronger even if rated the same. Good luck.
