I own a 2004 Ford F-150 Regular Cab. I plan to replace my existing speakers with JL's Evolution XR Component System. The only problem I am having is my truck has two speakers in the front two doors, and two speakers in the rear two doors. I also don't need the woofers in a 3 way system, because I already have a JL 10w7 powered by a JL Slash 500/1 amp. I like that i can use the tweeters, and the mid-range speakers, but I don't want to pay three hundred dollars and not be able to use two speakers, but still need two more mid-range speakers.

If anyone has a solution, or opinion, please tell me.

Thank you

Well first just because you have subwoofers does not mean you can bypass the woofers in a 3 way system.

but in your case I would go with the 2 way componet system in the Front, and leave out the Rears, or go with a coaxial in the rear if you feel the need

Read Geo's tutorial on Phasing to understand why

Wait, is the XR set you're going with the 2 way or 3 way? Either way, you'll need to use all the speakers included in the set unless you want a huge gap in frequency response. As Michael said, just put a single (complete) set of components up front with the W7 pulling up sub bass duties in the rear (or where ever you have the enclosure located). In that tiny a cabin, a single set of adequately powered components should be more than loud enough.

Along with phasing issues Michael/Geo point out, rear speakers that are located a few inches behind your head almost negates the purpose of having quality speakers up front...like the XR's you have your eye on.

Well, the way you can fix this is make or buy some kick pannels. If you dont know what they are they are custom boxes that sit of the corner on the floor that hold door speakers. So you could put some mid rangess there and the wire them to your amp.
