YES!!! you can do this....

Get this http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_g...udio+link+pl+2

And ONLY the audio link PL2.....its the BEST one period...

It will convert your speaker outputs from your factory radio or amp to rca level that will feed the signal to the sub amp.....

As for a remote turn on lead, not sure what beemers use nowadays for a power ant. output, but it can be done one way or another.

The only downfall to this is that the sub will be limited to the (usually) lower quality signal from the radio. But with todays new factory sytems, this is not that big of a deal and performance will be good... Done hundreds of systems this way from years past, almost always had good success

i have one more question, when you say low quality signal from the radio, does that mean basically the subwoofer will trail (fall behind) in volume/signal?

in other words, by getting a different head unit, the clarity goes up?

There will be no "lag" what I am referring too is the frequency response, it might not be up to par with a good after market radio, how much not up to par? well, like i say the newer car audio systems that the factories put out in their production vehicles is actually very good.

will it perform as well as a high end aftermarket sytem, no, will it perform very good? yes.....as a matter of fact, i have tun several subs/amps off of my factory radios over the years just as you want to do....i was very staisfied with the sound, and i am a very critical judge of sound mind you....

Over all if you want a stealth look and not ivest alot of money, i highly reccomend what you are wanting to do......you WILL be very happy with the end result if done properly!!!!!!!

yea, i understand what you mean, and thanks for the feedback.

i believe i'll be going with a JL 12w6 sub with whatever amp i can get my hands on. i dont want a rattling trunk or blow my eardrums. basically just want to give a nice clean thump to my music. any suggestions on amps? around 200-300rms 500watt max? i heard phoenix golds amps are good. and since im considering just one sub, should i opt for a 2 channel amp to save me trouble later on if iwant to add another one, or just stick to a mono?

Well if you have the money why not a JL 500/1....awesome amp with the flexibility of upgrades since it puts out the same power from 1.5 to 4 o hms
