Sony head unit refresh's
hi, i have a sony system set up, and sometimes the head set will refresh on its own, as if it trys to protect itself, i have
sony head unit
sony 10 disk changer
sony amp (1000 watts)
2 sony 10inch subs
1 sony 15inch sub
and a power acustica capacitor
before my 15inch sub i never had the problem....
but the problem doesnt even stay for long maybe once a week or once every other week... maybe not even, and i dont know if im pulling to much power from the head.. the cap. does get up to like 13-14 volts, but that shouldnt be a problem to the head, has anyone else heard or had this problem... ?

Why are you running two 10 inch subs AND one 15 inch sub...not a good idea...prolly doesn't sound as good as it can.
How is your amp wired?? What are the impedances of the subs??
Why do you have a capacitor?? Have you upgraded your big three??
Why sony??

could be a voltage drop. easiest thing to do right now, and should do it permantly anyway, disconnect the cap, then see if the problem still ensues..or check for a shorted wire, or evena stressed fuse holder behind the radio. Oh and by refresh, I assume you mean the radio is dropping out andcoming back on by itself.....?

Take out the whole setup replace the hu w/ a alpine hu, get a diamond audio 1 channel 1000 wt amp and a single 12" JL w6v6 in a custom enclosure preferablly a vented box and replace all the components with pioneer silicone speakers

out of all the reply yours is the only one really saying something usefull...
yea the radio does drop out and come back on by it self, i thought about the cap. giving me the problem as it was the same time i put the 15 in... ok ill try that
Thank you for your reply
---------------------------------------------------------------
as for why sonys... because thats what i want in my car, it sounds fine to me and thats all that matters as im not going to shows or anythin in that nature i know sony isnt the best for show material but it sure has been around for a LONG time... and it does fine for me....
my amp is wired like normal.. live from battery to amp.. only diffrence is it goes - battery - terminal block - amp/cap. which is how the instructions told me to do it... the grounds are fine, and i dunno what your on about tree ?
------------------------
as for the changing the whole system... well you can see a reply above related to it, and i will when i get my car upto the level of shows also.

I meant how is your amp wired as how are the subs wired to it...must be a weird impedance with two 10 inch woofers and one 15 impedance.
Also the big three is uprading the three main wires of your charging system
Wiring from
-alternator to battery
-battery to chassis
-engine block to chassis

also, with a big amp, and three subs, and a capacitor, you are pulling a lot of juice from your charging system.
Your H/U is highly likely to suffer from the dificiencies by "skipping out" for a moment, since the amp and cap are wired with a much more available power routing. You will notice some deficiency in the subs, but the H/U will actually suffer more. H/U's are generally designed to work in a much more stringent effective voltage range than a capacitor or amp is.
What I mean is:
an amp will function on 10v (however inefficiently, and lacking power, and some will be thrown into protection mode) Before your head unit will.
I think that your subs are "stealing" too much of your available power.
Do your headlights also dim really noticeably?

yea they do, even with the cap. i thought the idea of a cap is to prevent this, which is why i have it included.. but recently noticed its not helping.
