Exclamation Trying to replace stock radio w/ head unit for 07 Toyota yaris... please help!

I am new to this site so hello everyone and thank you for helping me out!

I recently bought an 07 toyota yaris 4Dr and wish to replace with a head unit. However, looking at my current stereo panel, it doesnt look too easy.

I havent bought anything yet, but I do know the metra mounting kit and harness I need, but I do not know how I would install it based on my panel itself. As you can see, the panel extends from the CD player to the vents, and does not have a hole in it for the mounting kit. Does anyone know how I would go about this problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure that is the right kit. I have read that some kits are actually for the echo and they dont fit right in the yaris. You are probably going to have to take apart the whole dash but this site has a few rpo installers so they should tell you the correct way to do this.

From that pic it looks like there is a plate that goes over the vents and radio. A plate should go on the front to replace the stock one and have a hole for a single DIN radio and some kind of hole for storage. The Yaris is a very new car and ive heard that a lot of the parts are coming out in the spring so you may have to wait a while for the proper kit.

Edit-Ill be joining you on yarisowners.com

Hmmmmmm, chainsaw, crowbar, and some C-4 , that oaghta git er done!!!!

Looks like a challenge for something custom, hope someone make a kit for that thing soon.... Probably end up something like the early 90's GM truck kits. And will probably lose the fancy looking silver front, Unless the kit is dyed the same color as the dash, which would look good.

The good thing is the yaris is based on the same platform as the Scion xA and xB. Those are supposed to be tuner friendly to fit in with the younger generation so i assume the Yaris should get its fair share of parts as well(but you know what they say about assuming) I wouldnt be surprised to see a well matched kit in the future.

new cars with the intergrated console require a very expensive kit that replaces the whole thing, except with a whole for the new radio. Either way, it's not gunna be fun. I recommend buying the kit online somewhere for cheap, and then getting a shop to put it in for you. Unless you REALLY like a Challenge!

(i know this mostly because i've done my friend's 04 Accord, and tha was even worse, he had to buy a kit with all the climate controls and stuff on it , just to replace the face of the console. It cost him about 200 bucks just for the kit. NOT FUN.)

good luck!

Hi
I just looked in my Metra catalog and I saw no kit listed for your car. Can you tell me the Metra Part #

If you do have the correct kit, it will come with a very complete set of instructions. Read the instructions carefully and then if you fell you do it, by all means do it. But if you have any doubts, let a pro do it.

Post the part number of that kit.
