need help

I just bought a 2001 Mercury Sable LS Premium with the electronic climate controls. So far I can find no dash kit available for this vehicle. I guess I need to use low level inputs, but I would like to put in an aftermarket HU. My questions are: 1 My sub is a 12 inch L7 with dual 2 ohm coils, so I can run it in 4, 2, or 1 ohm. I have a older Crossfire CFA 1000d which I could run at 1 ohm or i have a MTX 942 that I could run bridged a 4 ohms. Which do you guys think would be better. Ques 2: What would be the best way to hook up Satellite radio to the stock HU. I do a lot of drives between Vegas and Los Angeles. I would prefer a direct connection but I guess RF would be ok if thats the only way I could get it. Thanks for any ideas guys.

You mean high level with the factory radio...Low levels are rcas.

Um what are the specs for those amps...I'd use whatever amp is a class d amp...guessing the 1000D....better efficiency and less strain on your alternator...but either would work.

Not sure about the satellite radio but sure someone else here can answer that.

Is the stock radio a standard DIN sized opening? 2 X 7 i think. If so you wont need a dash kit.

No the radio and electronic climate controls are all in the same piece, so if I remove the radio I have to take out the climate controls with it. In the cars that dont have the electronic climate system its a easy swap. But this car has all the electronic stuff. Id really like to know how to hook up satellite radio with a direct connection. the ubit does have a 6 disc Kenwood changer hooked up to it, could i use that connection? I really dont want to go the rf way buit if I need to I guess I will.

ive seen this the climate controls and the radio are ONE peice.
the only true way to correct this is to either install the cd player sumwhere else or 2 cut the dash up and remove the radio half

Your radio is in the trunk. Left side, low on the wheel well, behind the trim panel. Unfortunately, I know of no easy solution to your radio problem. The radio (in the trunk) has two plugs. The main power speaker plug and an aux plug. If you control the changer using the radio controls then its plugged into the aux plug using an interface.

As long as an interface is available you can plug in anything there and control it. For example, Peripheral makes an Ipod interface for that radio, that allows control through that radio. XM might be possible, see if Turk makes an interface for that radio.

One bad thing, that radio can only handle one aux device at a time BUMMER
